Amarinth has delivered two separate orders of API 610 pumps, together worth £1.2 million, for the West Qurna-2 enlargement challenge in Iraq.

The first order, from Cannon Artes, was for seven super duplex API 610 OH1 pumps. The bespoke designed pumps are for a low shear software and required specialist Plan 53B seal assist methods incorporating air cooled seals and stainless-steel accumulators. All electrical items were IECEx licensed to be used in an ATEX Zone 2 hazardous area. Despite the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic in the course of the design and manufacture, delivery was achieved in the required time of just 32-weeks from order.
The second order, from SICIM, was for 3 tremendous duplex API 610 OH3 vertical in-line pumps for produced water therapy. The giant pumps had impellers of over 500mm diameter and the casings, that weigh 1.5 tonnes, were solid in a foundry in the UK. Plan 53B seal help methods have been designed to fit within a constrained footprint and as the pumps were destined for an ATEX Zone 2 area, the motors, seal help methods, and instrumentation have been IECEx licensed. Witness testing and inspection was undertaken by Bureau Veritas and a full legalised Iraq documentation package was delivered with the pumps. Delivery was achieved on a brief 38-weeks, regardless of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
