Svanehøj launches control system for cargo offloading

Danish pump producer Svanehøj has launched its newly developed environmentally friendly Flow Control system, which automates the management of electrical cargo pumps on tankers.
The launch of the newly developed software-based control system follows a successful test in collaboration with the Swedish shipping company Furetank on the P&C tanker Fure Ven. The 18,000 DWT vessel was in-built 2019 as one of Furetank’s V-Series, a new era of climate-smart P&C tankers.
Svanehøj’ pressure gauge octa makes it quicker, easier, and extra efficient to function electric cargo pumps. It ensures an optimum changeover between tanks and pumps in parallel, decreasing the time wanted for cargo discharge by as much as 20% as a outcome of the system will mechanically function on the optimal duty point. It allows the operator to take full management of the pumps, simplifying the complete cargo discharge operation with out installing any extra hardware.
Fure Ven is among the many first vessels at Furetank to have electrical cargo pumps installed. The company has recorded a 25% discount in power and gasoline consumption in relation to cargo discharge operations in comparability with vessels within the fleet which have hydraulic pumps.
